Leave the door open for 10 or 15 minutes and possibly put a box of baking soda in there after that. For the future, if you are painting and need to take an extended break (lunch, etc) rather than cleaning out your brush wrap it in saran/plastic wrap and it won't dry out.
Well I would clean it real good with some vinegar water and then put a box of baking soda in there to absorb any other odors. But next time you want to keep your paintbrush fresh, wrap it in something like cling wrap before putting it in the refrigerator, it keeps the smells from getting in the frig and it keeps the paintbrush fresh. It just pulls right off when you are ready.
I would clean the fridge out with a white vinegar and water mixture. Then place an opened box of baking soda in there.
I would try a box of baking soda opened in the frig. it is good at absorbing all kinds of odors even onions. That may be the best thing to use.
soda is the usual thing to put in the frig to get rid of smells--I would wash the frig with soda in the water--then open a box of soda--maybe 2 or 3 boxes since the smell is intense and leave it in your frig--good luck
