How to make a paint brush look old?

Don't say '; Paint with it '; I need it for art and i need to add an old looking effect to it. Any suggestions? How to make a paint brush look old?
I love painting things to make them look old and distressed, take a little bit of vasoline and put a little around the edges and paint a color of your choice on it (not solid) and then when it dries wipe off with a rag and the places you used the vasoline will come off, if its not ';old'; enough for you, use a steel sponge and ';scrap'; off a little bit more around the edgesHow to make a paint brush look old?
Put some paint on it and scrub it against a page so that the shaft faces you (in the way they tell you to NOT do it when painting!). Then run it through some water, change colors, and repeat a few times, getting some of the paint onto the shaft at the base of the brush. If you want to make the paint on the shaft chip, scrape at it with a nail file or sandpaper, which will give it a worn appearance, especially if the shaft is made of wood.
