What is the best way to brush-paint kitchen Cabinets?

My kitchen cabinets are dark brown (original finish) and start to blister around the edges. Is there a way to re-finish by hand, and if this is possible, what type of paint or other finish should I look for? What is the best way to brush-paint kitchen Cabinets?
Light sanding on the rough or peeling edges. Then paint with a primer. Paint with an dark vanilla colored paint. After it dries completely, wipe on a gel stain. wipe off so that the stain stays on edges, cracks, etc. Seal for a clear polyurethane. What is the best way to brush-paint kitchen Cabinets?
repaint over the dark brown stuff.
Use some enamel latex paint. There are some small (about 6 '; wide, 1.5';tall) sponge type rollers available that will put on a nice finish. I used one of these to paint when I replace a back door and it turned out great!
I painted ugly cabinets years ago. I scraped any loose varnish off first. Then I used a good primer. I finished it with 2 coats of a good latex enamel paint. It worked well. the area around the door knobs tended to get scratched off so I kept extra paint in baby food jars so I could touch it up once in a while.

I painted the edges and the raised center hunter green and the recessed areas almond. (By colors you can tell this was obviously done in the 80's!) They looked great. Years later I could afford new oak cabinets but I thought my kitchen lost a lot of it's charm.
u will need to sand them down first, take one of the doors to the local hardware paint supply store and ask the help.
