How do i make my paint brush on GIMP a different color?

its a black and white photo.. and when i try to use the pain brush its gray, when i want green. thanks if you can help!! :)

the mode of your image is not rgb, could be greyscale or indexed, or it is indexed as png or gif,





check Image%26gt; mode%26gt; RGB, then try and edit new colours,





save file as xcf to edit, then save copy as jpg or other,

if other colors work on image, but only brush does not, then it is a preset brush, try stamping with pencil/ brush/ airbrush,, if no change, then stamp once, fill with color and then use as new brush from palette,
