When applying water sealant to a fence will it matter if I switch from using a paint brush to a sprayer?

I've already painted part of the fence by hand, while my husband was at work. He is now upset because, I guess, he was going to buy a sprayer....go figured. Will it be a problem to switch between the two? He seems to think it will look terrible, and be applied unevenly.

It is clear, thompsons water sealant, also.

Thanks! When applying water sealant to a fence will it matter if I switch from using a paint brush to a sprayer?
since it is clear and i assume it has no tint, if that is the case than the only difference will be in the sheen. the big picture is...what is more important in life, the fence or the woman he promised at the wedding to love and to cherish thru everything, even coating application techniques. When applying water sealant to a fence will it matter if I switch from using a paint brush to a sprayer?
This debate has been going on since sprayers were invented.

The sprayer can apply a thicker coat, possibly offering greater protection. When spraying, you lose quite a bit of material to overspray and it's difficult if not impossible to get full coverage without having runs (especially on rough sawn or shadow boxed fences).

The brush may not give as thick of a coat but does give you the opportunity for better coverage, getting sealant down into the cracks.

Things would be different if you were using a different product but since you're using Thompson's clear (basically wax) lapping isn't an issue. Basically, I think you're probably doing a better job than he would but taking longer to do it.
No just make sure you get a good coverage.
