Hi Eliluvsy,

Use cellulose thinners you can get it from car spray paint suppliers.

The cheapest type will clean the oil paint off, It's called 'gunwash'

It's used for cleaning car spraying guns and nozzles.

Don't use it on your brushes unless it's hardened on to the bristles.

Give them a real good wash in soap and water afterwards.

Use white spirit for to clean your brushes when the paint is soft and wet.

Save the turpentine for your actual painting on the canvas.

HINT don't let your paint harden in the first place.

Regards Lawrence.
It depends on how much you value the brushes. If they are expensive sable brushes, the first thing to do is loosen the dried paint with some warm soapy water. After soaking them as long as is necessary, use turpentine to remove the excess paint. Tightly wrap the bristles with a moistened paper towel or a piece of cloth to make sure that they don't curl.
I suggest buying odorless mineral spirits, which is a paint thinner that can be used for oil paints that doesn't have the nasty odor turpentine (what artists use to clean their brushes) has. You can buy it at Home Depot, or get it for way more money at an art store.
Hair conditioner or baby shampoo
