Paint brushes are given out in random events, they can be won from a nerkmid machine, you could play the world challenges games and put together a map for one. Also, you could restock and earn money to buy one from the trading post.





Contrary to what a lot of liars say, you can't get one for free by posting anything on boards. There are no super secret cheats to getting them.How do u get a paint brush on neopets how do other people get it?
You can buy them in the auctions, the trading post and sometimes you can get them in events. You get some in the newbie pack after you sign up and in the advent calender in December.
You get it by the gauchapon (sp?) machine.





Thats the only way I know of getting one. I've gotten a few different paint brushes from different gauch machines too

Feather Duster Paint Brush?

Has anyone ever used a feather duster to paint interior walls? And I wanted to know if there are any tips you might have? Of course, I am using a brush/roller for the solid blue which is about 2 shades darker than what I am using the feather duster for. My main desire, is to produce a print effect with the feathers. I also I wondered if the right duster is needed. The ones that I have bought are cut off evenly and I am wondering if the other kind, where the feathers get smaller and smaller as the extend from the handle is needed?Feather Duster Paint Brush?
Yes, that works great. If you can use three colors, you'll get a much deeper looking texture. Use the medium color as the base, then apply the lighter color for highlights, and the darker color over that to give the sense of shadow. I'd recommend you do this on a large board or piece of paper for practice first, before you commit it to the wall. The different types of dusters are going to give you different ';print'; patterns, so the practice board will be a good place for you to test out different brushes and techniques. Another one you might try is called ';rag roll'; You twist a rag up and dip it in the paint so that the outside is covered, then roll it across the wall. Remember not to freak out if you make a mistake, you can always paint over it and try again. Have fun!Feather Duster Paint Brush?
Make sure you use natural feathers. Also, dip, shake off excess and dab - use a light touch until you find the look you like. Make sure you keep a clean duster - or replace every so often, they will glob up.





Uneven are fine, for a more textured look. You can also remove a few feathers and experiment with using one or two feathers as a brush.





Use painter's glaze to keep the paint open longer for work-ablility and the transparency you are looking for.

It works quite well, I used three colors of paint, two shades of blue and a cream color. I took a paper plate and laid paper towels on it to dab off the excess paint, however I did use the cheaper feather dusters and had no poroblem, buy several dusters though and change when needed, you will be able to tell, I finished two bedrooms this way and a basement.
sounds like a cool concept, but i have never tried it.
I have done that before I would suggested that use a feather that is natural and will not fall apart like a cheap feather duster

How do i clean paint off a brush?

If you're using acrylics for plastic, use water with a touch of dish-soap... and if you're using enamel's use the manufacturers thinner (typically petroleum distillates). ALWAYS clean your brushes as soon as you finish using them... never wait until later.





Thinner usually comes in a bottle or can... I decant off a batch into TWO other bottles (Grey Poupon jars work great). I ALWAYS put THOSE bottles inside a metal pie-tin to capture drips or spills.





You dip the brush into the first thinner bottle and SWISH it around to remove most of the paint... wipe the brush gently across a soft cloth or paper towel... then swish the brush about in the second bottle to clean further. I store my brushes in a third jar with the bristles UP.





I know you're a beginner, but it is WELL worth it to talk to your hobby-store person and buy GOOD brushes rather than ';cheapo'; brushes.





I have several brushes that are over 12 years old, and are in near perfect shape.

I paint quite a bit with my craft and whenever I have a lot of paint built up in the Ferrel of my paintbrush I usually soak my paint brush in denatured rubbing alcohol for a few minutes you can see the old built up dried paint leaving your paintbrush and then was the brush in liquid detergent and then rinse in cold water to get rid of the soap residue and my brushes return to their original new state when I bought them,
I use simple paint thinner in small glass jars. 1 for swishing the brush in and wiping it off in a rag or paper towel and the other I put a little on a rag to wipe off any residue. The paint in the first jar will settle, so it can be used for quite awhile.





Don't use anywhere near flame, such as a furnace or hot water heater or soldering gun. Cover tightly the jars when done. Don't leave the rags/towels laying around where they could ignite.

for any oil based paint turpentine/paint thinner/methylated spirits as recommended above...





bottom line is whatever you use to remove or thin the paint is best for cleaning the brush.

You clean oil paint brushes by first wiping the paint out of them with a rag and turpentine, odorless turpenoid, or Livos solvent, you have to use small amounts of these because it is illegal in most places to rinse them down the drain, as they are highly pollutant. You can then rub soap into the bristles and rinse with water. Oil rags have to be disposed of in metal containers because they are highly flamable.How to wash out the oil paint from the brush?
The best method I know of: Wipe the brush well with paper towel or rag. Wash with paint thinner. Then use waterless hand cleaner (like mechanics use only without pumice, as that will wear out your brushes ) Then rinse with water. The hand cleaner emulsifies the paint and makes it water soluble. This cleans the paint out of the heel of the brush, where if it dries the brush is ruined. This REALLY WORKS WELL.

Well I usually use baby oil/canola oil to remove excess oil from my brush...i alos put oil on my brush and then i use soap and then water. Well that's what my art teacher taught up in my oil painting class.
The best way to clean your brushes without damaging them is:


Wipe off excess paint with paper towel.


Clean with turpentine or mineral spirits. Best stuff to use is odorless turpenoid sold in all art stores. Other option is to clean it with Phelps Naphta soap, works wonders, I had a jacket that had dried oil paint on it, my wife rubbged some wet soap on it , threw it in the washer. Now it is clean as new.


Put some soap on the brushes to form them if you are not going to use them right away, hand soap might work too.


Leave them till next use.

A premium paint thinner is Mineral Spirits. The odorless kind. Wipe off excess paint from your brush first. Swish your brush in a small, disposable container, apply soap in your hand and wash your brush in the palm of your hand. Rinse well. Shape your brushes and let air dry.





Acetone is harsh on brushes and water nor vinegar will work on oils. You can buy paint thinners at an art supply store, but they are expensive. Odorless Mineral Spirits can be purchased at any hardware store.. Happy painting!

No. Do not use soap and water for oil paint, it simply will not work. Soap and water is the worst way. You need to use paint thinner or mineral spirits. In a pinch you can also use acetone. Vinegar will not work either, don't even think about it. Normal vinegar you but from the store is 95% water.





For oil paint you need mineral spirits aka paint thinnner, turpentine, and acetone will work as well.

I use a ';dry'; filbert or flat brush with un-thinned (almost dry) paint and drag it over the area, leaving sparkles of foam without painting the whole area white. I never got the hang of a fan brush - it seems to leave lines that are too symmetrical and evenly spaced for my liking.





To make mist - I have a domed stipple brush that I use dry with just a dab of nearly dry paint on the tip, and lightly ';scumble'; it into the surface. Try not to use white straight from the tube for all the foamy water - it tends to look unnatural and flat. Use just for highlights.

You might want to paint a small practice board, experimenting with different brushes before you try it on your actual project. One thing that might work in this situation is a ';scruffy'; brush-basically a worn out brush that can be used to pounce color on. It's great for creating piles of snow or sand or other textured items. Be generous with your paint, and just pounce up and down with the brush, using varying degrees of pressure to create a foamy look.
I'm not an expert, but there is no one technique. You might consider using a fan brush and push your water up. This will give you some of those curved lines you want. I'd also consider using a wide brush (perhaps 2';) and lightly dry brush over the fan brush strokes to give it that misty appearance. Depending on the effect you want, you might want to go with the stroke or against it. Experiment a little.





I always find it best to look at other people's photographs and paintings and see how that might work in what I'm doing. Search Yahoo's Images for waterfalls to see what I mean.
It all depends on the style of painting you chose. If the painting is realistic (fineart), then I would definately recommend an airbrush. You can blend the water mist very easily this way and even add a see-through rainbow somewhere in it. If the style you chose is more free-form, then I would suggest a fan brush. You should get some pictures of waterfalls and study them for reference before you start. I would go for less lines and curves in the foam. I would thicken up the paint for the bottom layers making waves and curves in the foam and mist over the top layers with an airbrush.
